Registration Rules

The King LineBreeders Registry was founded to preserve the pedigrees of, promote the breeding of, record the accomplishments of, and provide a marketing tool for the descendants of the great King P234.

The King LineBreeders Registry is open to all horses/ponies carrying 12.5% or more King P234 breeding by pedigree analysis and meeting the following criteria. The KLB has four divisions- quarter horse, paint/pinto, appaloosa, and crossbred.

King

The four divisions of the registry provide something for everyone. The 'Q' division (for quarter horse) is limited to those horses that are registered with the American Quarter Horse Association or its affiliates. The 'P' division (for paint or pinto horse) is limited to those horses that are registered with the American Paint Horse Association or in the Stock Type division of the Pinto Horse Association. The 'A' division (appaloosa horse) is limited to those horses that are registered with the Appaloosa Horse Club. The 'X' division (for crossbred horse) is open to all other horses and ponies, not just crossbreds. If a horse/pony isn't registered with an approved registry, documentation will be required to verify pedigree.

No horse may be registered in more than one division; eg. a double registered AQHA/APHA horse registered in the Q division is not eligible to be registered in the P division. Please note- a previously unregistered horse having been registered in the X division, upon being AQHA, APHA, PtHA (Stock Type) or ApHC registered, may be registered in the Q, P, or A division respectively, if the owner sends the X division certificate and a copy of the AQHA, APHA, PtHA, or ApHC papers. The X division certificate will be cancelled and the new certificate issued.

Horses/ponies descended from the AQHA stallion Impressive must be HYPP N/N in order to be registered with KLB.

A horse/pony conceived by live cover, whether pasture bred or by hand, shall be considered the same as a horse conceived by artificial insemination, by transported semen or by frozen semen. Likewise, a horse/pony carried by a mare not its genetic dam (embryo transplant or transfer) shall be considered equal to a horse carried by its own dam. Multiple offspring of the same mare foaled in a calendar year shall be eligible for registration. A horse/pony conceived outside its dam's uterus (in vitro fertilization) shall be eligible for registration. When there is some question as to the genetic parents of a horse, DNA testing shall be required to resolve the issue, or when there is reason to believe suggested parentage is incorrect.

No horse/pony that is the result of an ovum which has had the nucleus replaced by the cell of any horse, living or dead, hereafter referred to as a 'clone', shall be eligible for registration with KLB. No offspring or other descendant of a clone shall be eligible for registration, except those horses that meet pedigree requirement without the clone's bloodline. Any descendant of a clone that is accepted for registration, shall have 'horse' or 'mare' appear on the registration certificate in place of the clone's name and the pedigree of the clone shall be blank.

No horse that is the result of modified or substituted DNA, hereafter referred to as a genetically engineered horse, shall be eligible for registration with KLB. No offspring or other descendant of a genetically engineered horse shall be eligible for registration with KLB.

Any person found to have knowing registered or attempted to register a horse or pony with KLB in violation to either of the previous two paragraphs, shall have their membership permanently revoked.
